For years I was told just stop picking and my acne would improve. But the problem was they kinda hurt and they didnt have a tendency to resolve themselves.

Picking doesnt help, but skillful popping does. Skin picking causes sores not acne. Existing acne can be made much worse if you are unable to perform professional style extractions. I skin picked for years and after stopping I still had acne. A common amino acid called NAC (N- Acetyl-cysteine) is highly effective for a lot of people and it’s available OTC. Common dosages for skin picking range from 600mg-2000mg. Research suggests OCD compulsions are caused by excessive oxidative stress on the brain. NAC forces your liver to kick out tons of Glutathione, a master antioxidant. It was amazing for me and was like someone flipped a switch in my head and I didnt skin pick anymore. I stopped taking it after 4 months and the urge to pick never returned. This was nearly 10 years ago. It worked so well I even quit picking at my cuticles.
