Is mega-dosing vitamins for skin problems safe?

No, and it gets less safe as you age.

In my younger years I would have been all for it. In fact I am no stranger to mega dosing. I have a variety of ailments I have struggled with throughout the years and I have done mega dosing in the past. However there were always side effects, some more serious than others. One time being very serious and I will never mega dose again. With regard to skin problems, it's not a root cause approach and likely will not work long term. B5 and Retinol are your most common vitamins to do this with but others are sometimes used. Everyone is familiar with the issues surrounding Acutane but very few seem to know that excessive B5 can cause hair loss and that is what is found in most acne supplements. If you have a nice thick ponytail and hair to spare this may be a non-issue for you. But for people with very fine hair like myself, this was one treatment option I was unwilling to try so many years back. Lots of skin problems are rooted in nutritional excesses and deficiencies. But nothing extreme is required to fix this, nor will it speed up the process. Which to be honest isnt all that long.
